Welcome to Wharfedale Australia

Welcome to Wharfedale Australia — the official home of Wharfedale loudspeakers for Australian listeners. Backed by Audio Visual Revolution (AVR), the authorised Australian distributor, every speaker we supply comes with genuine local stock, full Australian warranty, and expert advice. This blog is where we share buying guides, setup help, product news, and the stories behind nearly a century of British loudspeaker engineering.

Nearly a century of British sound

Wharfedale was founded in 1932 by Gilbert Briggs in the Wharfedale valley of Yorkshire, England. From the beginning, Briggs was obsessed with one thing: loudspeakers that sound natural and musical, not merely loud. His early experiments — famously including damping cabinets with sand to tame unwanted resonance — set a tone of practical, engineering-led design that still defines Wharfedale today.

In the decades since, Wharfedale has become one of the most respected names in hi-fi, earning a reputation for speakers that deliver genuine high-fidelity performance at prices real people can afford. That philosophy — serious sound, sensible money — runs through every model we sell.
