Diamond 230 Floorstanding Speakers

Since 1982 Wharfedale Diamond has meant one thing – impeccable performance at an affordable price. Today we are pleased to bring you the latest series of loudspeakers from Wharfedale that aspires to this tradition – Diamond 200.

For Diamond 200 series Wharfedale’s engineers have refined and fully updated the advanced specifications set by its predecessors. Drive unit motor systems have been redefined with more power and greater efficiency. Cabinet materials have taken a leaf out of the extensive research that resulted in the advanced Jade series. Even the appearance is improved with new, lacquered front baffles and cosmetically enhanced veneers.

But that’s not all. Hundreds of hours of listening tests have resulted in refinements to the crossover systems to yield greater attack, dynamics and musical enjoyment in conjunction with the neutrality and startling realism that is a Wharfedale tradition.

Whether you are choosing speakers for a stereo system or to create an AV sonic extravaganza, Wharfedale Diamond 200 series offers everything you need from advanced loudspeaker designs that don’t cost the earth.

Britain's Most Famous Loudspeakers

Refined by research

Foremost in the design is ongoing research into driver sound quality — the series uses our famous woven Kevlar cone, drawing influence from the flagship Jade Series. With a honed internal crossover, stronger magnets, an all-new lacquered front baffle and enhanced veneers, each model is only signed off for production once its acoustic tests are deemed truly satisfying.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size room suits the Diamond 230?

The Diamond 230 is a floorstanding speaker suited to medium and larger rooms — roughly 18–35 m². Give it about 20–50 cm of breathing room from the rear wall and toe it in slightly toward the listening seat for a focused stereo image.

What amplifier should I pair with the Diamond 230?

The Diamond 230 presents a nominal 8Ω load and 88dB sensitivity, and Wharfedale recommends roughly 25 - 150W per channel. A quality integrated amplifier or AV receiver in that range drives it cleanly without strain — aim for clean, stable power rather than maximum wattage.

Does the Diamond 230 need a subwoofer?

The Diamond 230 reaches down to about 40 Hz, so it delivers full, satisfying bass for everyday music listening on its own. In most rooms it won't need one for music; add a Wharfedale subwoofer if you're building a dedicated home-cinema system.

Diamond 230 vs Diamond 240 — which should I choose?

Both share the same series voicing. The Diamond 240 uses larger or additional drivers for more output and deeper bass, so it suits bigger rooms or higher volumes. The Diamond 230 is the better fit for smaller spaces and nearer listening — choose it if your room is modest or your budget is tighter.

What finishes does the Diamond 230 come in?

The Diamond 230 is available in Black, Rosewood, Walnut and White. All finishes are the same speaker acoustically — choose whichever best suits your room. Every option is in stock with free Australian shipping.
