Frequently Asked Questions

Are floorstanding speakers better than bookshelf speakers?

It depends on your room. Floorstanding speakers give deeper bass and greater scale and suit medium-to-large rooms, while bookshelf speakers are easier to place and better for small rooms and near-field listening. Both Wharfedale ranges share the same sound signature, so choose by room size and how loud you listen.

How far from the wall should floorstanding speakers be?

Start about 20–30cm from the rear wall and adjust from there. Moving them closer reinforces bass; pulling them out tightens it. Toe them in slightly toward your listening position for a focused stereo image.

Do Wharfedale floorstanding speakers need a subwoofer?

Not usually — most models reach low enough for music and home cinema on their own. Add a subwoofer only if you want extra low-end impact for movies in a larger room.

What size room do I need for floorstanding speakers?

They work best in rooms from around 15m² upward. In smaller rooms they can overpower the space, so consider bookshelf speakers instead.

How much power do they need?

Each product page lists the recommended amplifier power and impedance. Most Wharfedale floorstanders are an easy load for any quality stereo amplifier or AV receiver. Contact us for a pairing recommendation.

Do they come with a warranty?

Yes. Bought from AVR or an authorised dealer, every Wharfedale speaker is covered by the full manufacturer warranty — up to 3 years when you register within 90 days.
