Wharfedale’s story began in 1932, when founder Gilbert Briggs built his first loudspeaker in his home in Ilkley, Yorkshire. Just a year later, production moved to a small factory near Bradford, establishing the foundations of a British loudspeaker tradition that would go on to influence generations of audio design. From pioneering early technologies to iconic models such as the Linton, Dovedale and Diamond, Wharfedale has always been driven by a passion for natural, musical sound.
Today, that heritage has come home. Wharfedale’s UK headquarters and engineering operation in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, was expanded in 2022 with a dedicated manufacturing facility and new anechoic chamber. Here, selected models are once again handcrafted in Britain, combining generations of loudspeaker expertise with modern acoustic engineering, precision manufacturing and meticulous craftsmanship. The Made in UK series is a celebration of where Wharfedale came from - and where its pursuit of great sound continues.
